According to reports, Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants to lure Paris Saint Germain starlet Christopher Nkunku to the Emirates Stadium during the next transfer window.
Nkunku, 21, has featured in 27 matches for the Ligue 1 in all competitions this campaign, but he is yet to seal a guaranteed shirt under head coach Thomas Tuchel.
The French wonderkid’s present deal at the French Capital City club is set to run out in 2020 and as per a report by Evening Standard, the Paris-based club may be ready to sell him for €20 million when the season ends if the starlet rejects a contract elongation.
Head coach of the Gunners, Unai Emery brought the youngster through PSG’s youth ranks while he was the manager of the French club from 2016 to 2018, with it now the Spaniards intend to lure him to the North London club.
According to ES, the tactician is willing the club hierarchy to table a £17.2 million offer for his former player when the transfer market reopens, as he attempts to reinforce his current team.
The tactician has had a mixed debut season at the London club, but his team still have an opportunity of winning the UEFA Europa League and making it to the top-four of the Premier League.
The Gunners success in the window could heavily depend on whether the club qualifies or not for next season’s UEFA Champions League, with reduced transfer funds available should they fail to make it to the Champions League next season.
However, the French heavyweight’s asking price for the starlet is kind of modest and Arsenal could realistically submit an offer which suits both clubs later in the summer window.
The U-21 international of France, undoubtedly has a bright future waiting ahead of him, considering his technical abilities and physicality which permits him to act as both a box-to-box and a holding midfielder.
